Healing - Your Mind is Your Healer

Healing is one of the most mysterious functions of the body. My affirmation is that it comes from a source deep within the psyche. It comes from each and every one of the millions of cells that form our bodies.

Whether one needs physical, emotional, psychological or spiritual healing, the results always come from within one's own mind. Some say it is the power of God that heals them, while others claim it to be the power of the universe. Many and varied are the sources claimed to heal us, but they all work according to our personal beliefs.

Nonetheless, it doesn't matter where healing comes from, the psyche must be open to that healing. It must be willing to accept healing as a new way of living and a new way of life.

Some people seem to get stuck in an illness rut. They 'accept' that they are ill and are unwilling to make a change for the better. They 'accept' feeling poorly. They 'accept' that the condition they are in is 'how it's supposed to be'.

One must decide of their own free will if they are ready, willing, and able for that healing change to begin. This is what I mean by it must come from within the psyche, mind, heart or soul of the individual.

There are many ways to naturally focus one's healing ability, and I stress to do this along with the traditional form of healing such as seeing a good and competent medical doctor. Of course, always letting your doctor know that you are using alternative forms of healing is advised.

Among some of the alternative medical therapies I have studied, some seem to relax the mind and spirit. This excellent, even if only relaxing some of life’s stress, alternative therapy a wonderful. Why? Because the medical field now recognizes that stress, when left unchecked, leads to heart attack, lowers the immune system so that it becomes vulnerable to many dis-eases, is one of the causes that leads to cancer, and many other debilitating ailments and dis-eases.

Below is a list of some of the therapies we have studied and/or are still studying.

Aromatherapy* Here the use of therapeutic grade essential oils are used for just about any kind of ailment. Click on Aromatherapy to see more information

Color Therapy*
- The use of colors in healing goes back to the early history of humankind.

Edgar Cayce Readings - Edgar Cayce, the Sleeping Prophet, accurately diagnosed thousands of people's ailments and cured diseases while in a sleep-like trance. The Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., where his readings are stored offers worldwide prayer which serves over 60,000 people a year.
Research is conducted in many areas, including archaeological expeditions. Spiritual growth groups and regionally sponsored activities help bring the Cayce message closer to your homes. Free information to anyone online and through snail mail is given to thousands each month. ARE has a healing center ar
Virginia Beach, VA.

Guided Imagery* - This is a very simple and useful method of healing. There are no external elements, just the suggestions given by the imagery therapist. One will sit back and relax and then follow the directions and imagine the visual and sensory sensations that the practitioner offers.

Herbal Teas* -These work from the inside, although in most cases the aromas are delightful and therapeutic. As you can imagine, herbal teas aren't quite as effective if one is nauseated or vomiting. Otherwise, they are an excellent way to assist in healing a variety of ailments. We recommend Penn Herb for fresh herbs.

Reflexology* - coming soon!

Reiki* - Rev. Deborah Ehmann is a Reiki Master of the Usui System of Natural Healing.

Tuning Forks* - Over a year ago, I purchased two sets of tuning forks and a course to go along with them. These forks are still quite new to me. So far, I have practiced on family members who found the tuning forks to be very relaxing, taking them 'away' from their problems like that old TV commercial about a bath product.
A few members of my family have also tested the forks on me. I can say, even with their untrained efforts, the tuning forks were very relaxing.
After a little more practice within my inner circle, I'll hopefully get my tuning fork certification and be able to offer the tuning forks therapy as a healing remedy.

*They are not a means for determining illness, and as such, caution should be used when using any of the above therapies.
