About a House Blessing
Blessing your home is an old tradition. A House Blessing is also known as a house cleansing, house clearing or a house healing, and are usually done as a religious ceremony in order to protect the those who live in the house from from harm or negativity in any way. Various religions have house blessings of one form or another, and so we offer different faith house blessings and can perform an interfaith house blessing if you so choose.
A new idea for the times is a House Blessing that is also a House Warming at the same time. The friendly gathering of those you love and who love you is a wonderful time to use the positive energy about your new home during the house blessing.Since we care about you and your friends and family and if this type of house blessing is chosen, we will supply your guests with all the information they need to participate in the blessing of your new home, so the experience is one that you will happily remember for a very long time.
We will come to your home and perform a house blessing ritual using holy water and sacred oils. We will professionally perform your house blessing ceremony, one that is either formal or informal, yet fitting, according to your faith, needs and wishes.
Some of the items we use are candles, crosses, crucifixes, smudge sticks, water, holy water, holy oils, and the Holy Bible. Your house blessing may include some or all of the above items or other items not listed. It will be personalized for you and your situation.
Well-Known House Blessing
From a song by Helen Taylor and Mary H. Brahe
(This song has been performed by many artists).
BLESS THIS HOUSE
Bless this house, Oh Lord we pray
Make it safe by night and day
Bless these walls so firm and stout
Keeping want and trouble out
Bless the roof and chimneys tall
Let thy peace lie over all
Bless this door that it may prove
Ever open to joy and love
Bless these windows shining bright
Letting in God’s heavenly light
Bless the hearth, a-blazing there
With smoke ascending like a prayer
Bless the people here within
Keep them pure and free from sin
Bless us all that we may be
Fit Oh Lord to dwell with thee
Bless us all
that we, one day,
may dwell with thee
Oh Lord, we pray
From Across the Pond – not a house blessing, but a short bedtime prayer.
From ghosties and ghoulies,
And long-leggedy beasties,
And things that go bump in the night,
Good Lord, deliver us!
